4secure are proud to support the Get Safe Online Intiative.  Get Safe Online is funded by the UK Government, SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency), Microsoft and HSBC. 

The main aims are to make users of the internet aware of the pitfalls and dangers surfing the net poses in relation to e-crime, online fraud, identity theft and offer advice to consumers and businesses alike on how you can help reduce your risk of falling foul! 

It's a typical game of cat and mouse against the bad guys, one trying to outwit the other, we're only too aware of that.  However this problem is not going away anytime soon, any attempts to communicate what we in the security industry are seeing to those not at the 'sharp edge' is no bad thing at all in our opinion!

A survey recently undertaken by Get Safe Online highlighted that students are the most at risk group of falling victim to online fraud and ecrime.  This is mainly due to the dismissive nature that they have of online crime and the need for basic security such as software firewalls and up to date Anti-Virus! 

It is for this reason that 4Secure are launching their own initiative to contact local schools, colleges and universities to offer their time and knowledge to help make students more aware of the dangers they face online and what basic steps they can take to start protecting themselves.  Making them aware of the need for security while online and in IT in general now will only pay dividends in the future, after all the students of today are the business leaders of tomorrow!  Security should never be an after thought, that's when it can get expensive.  Building it in from the start can save a great deal of heartache later on.
