Cyber Essentials

We offer self-assessment services as a Cyber Essentials Scheme (CES) Certification Body and are recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre’s Cyber Essentials Partner, IASME.

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed and industry supported scheme designed to reduce the levels of cyber security risk in its supply chains. As a recognised Certification Body (CB), we can provide a full range of CES and IASME services, including self-assessment, assisted services, CES PLUS and IASME assessments.

Understanding Cyber Essentials

The Cyber Essentials scheme defines a set of five technical controls that are independently assessed before your business can achieve Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials PLUS certification:
=

Boundary firewalls and internet gateways

=

Secure configuration

=

Access control

=

Malware protection

=

Patch management

Presuming these five controls are properly implemented and maintained, organisations can operate with a baseline level of assurance that their systems are protected from the most prevalent online and cyber threats.

Cyber Essentials Certification

A focused set of technical controls to provide cost effective, basic cyber security protection from the most prevalent forms of threat coming from the internet.

Cyber Essentials PLUS Certification

A natural progression from the independently verified self-assessment assurance activities implemented as part of Cyber Essentials. Cyber Essentials PLUS offers a higher level of assurance of your organisation’s cyber security defences through a range of internal and external tests of your network and computers.

CES Assisted Assessment

Some of the Cyber Essentials self-assessment questions can be difficult to understand if you do not have a technical IT background or you have a complex company structure.

But, don’t worry that’s what our 4Secure trained assessors are here for. They will be able to guide you through the assessment questions, nurturing you through the process. We will always explain to you how these questions relate to your company and what steps you need to take in order to achieve certification.

CES PLUS Assessment

Cyber Essentials PLUS certification provides a more robust assessment of your organisation’s controls and considers how effectively they are implemented and maintained to help defend against Internet-borne threats.

The full CES PLUS testing scope can be found within the scheme’s Illustrative Test Specification. The core areas of focus are:

=

External Facing Website & Services

=

Boundary & Firewall Protection

=

Internal Network Vulnerabilities

=

End User Devices

=

Access & Privilege Management

Our Cyber Essentials PLUS Assessment services include certification fees, internal and external vulnerability scans, and on-site assessment and consultancy advice.
